If you are facing severe pain due to touch, heat, or chewing, you need emergency dental attention and have to make an appointment with the emergency dentist. If the pain suddenly increases, the dental problem may have been caused by a cavity or abscess. In general, dental emergencies require on-time and immediate emergency treatments. Loose teeth: Loose teeth with redness, and bleeding gums indicate advanced gum disease. If left untreated, and in rare cases, gum disease can lead to heart disease, including heart attack.

Swelling in the jaw area: This symptom can indicate a lymph node or tooth infection around the mouth or in the jaw area. Rarely, this symptom is associated with cancer. If you have severely swollen jaws with severe pain, you are in a dental crisis and should see an emergency dentist. If the swelling is not severe, it will go away in one to two weeks. But severe inflation needs to be addressed by emergency dental care.

Tooth breakage: If you encounter a broken tooth, immediately flush the area with physiological saline. Place a bag of ice on your face. If there is a sharp edge that irritates the cheeks and tongue, cover the sharp edge with paraffin or, if possible, dental wax and see an emergency dentist.

Feeling tired: This feeling can be directly related to an oral infection. If you feel tired all the time, be sure to see your dentist and check your mouth and teeth’ health.

Oral ulcers: These superficial ulcers on the inner surface of the cheeks, gums, and tongue are caused by biting the cheek, hard brushing, eating hot food, or irritation from orthodontic brackets. An oxygenated mouthwash solution, with the bubbles it creates, cleans the wound of food particles. If the wound does not heal within one to two weeks, you should see an emergency dentist.

Pregnancy toothache: If you are pregnant, do not worry. Emergency dental treatments can be done. In no case should you use painkillers for a long time to relieve toothache during this period, but you should go to the emergency dentist quickly. Be aware that taking any medication by yourself can be dangerous for both mother and fetus, so do not take any medicines without your doctor or dentist’s permission. In cases where the doctor or dentist prescribes a medicine with the knowledge of the patient’s pregnancy, the use of that drug is necessary, and avoiding its use may be harmful to the patient and the fetus.

Nocturnal toothache: Nocturnal pain is one of the most common dentalemergencies is the pain that happens to adults or your child during sleep. If your child suddenly cries because of a toothache at night, it is best to move the child from a supine position to a sitting position so that the child’s head is higher. Before going to the emergencydentist, it is recommended to rinse your mouth with warm water and use painkillers to reduce the pain temporarily. If there is severe pain or swelling, place an ice pack (cold compress) on the cheek and remove after 10 minutes. Repeat this alternately until you reach the emergencydentist. Also, avoid heating the desired position.
