Not EVERYONE supports the stimulus

Posted by Amber Gunn - January 27, 2009

In fact, 200 economists are going on record in public opposition to the massive stimulus bill. We got an inside email from Cato Institute today announcing that they would be running the below ad in the New York Times, Washington Post and Roll Call this week. Click here to view a larger image.

Did I mention the $825 billion stimulus package is barely less than all the money currently in circulation in the entire U.S. economy? Congress might as well reach into your bank account and steal half of everything in it. Make no mistake, the stimulus bill is a votes-for-cash scheme, the likes of which we have not seen in our lifetimes.

The stimulus package will cost every American family more than $10,000 on average. Compare that to the average annual cost of food, clothing, healthcare and housing in the chart from Heritage.

Is there anything left to say about it?

Amber,

Thanks for posting this.

I'd first like to correct your subject line from "not EVERYONE supports the stimulus," to, "NOT everyone supports the stimulus." By highlighting 'everyone' you are misleading and not informing. I know you would rather inform people than mislead them.

Next. I'd like to know across the economic spectrum what the stimulus package will cost people. The true measure of this issue is not the average but is in the detail. See I want to know what it will cost me. I don't really care what the end average is, I want to know, if I make $50,000 per or $12,000,000 per year what it is going to cost me.

See what that tells me is what part of the population really benefits from having to pay off the stimulus package. If I make $50,000 and only have to pay $100 than I'm for it. If I make $12,000,000 and have to only pay $100 then I am REALLY for it. See this is more of a relative question.

Finally, if I am gay and not considered by some political parties to be in a family am I exempt from paying off the stimulus package? If so, if I make $120,000,000 per year it might be worth becoming gay if I am not.
