Newest justice a fan of open government
Posted by Mike Reitz - January 22, 2009The Supreme Court of Washington's newest member, Justice Debra L. Stephens, seems to be a fan of open government. The Court has just ruled in favor of a records requestor. The opinion, written by Justice Stephens, deals with the time limits on filing a lawsuit under the Public Records Act. If a party is not satisfied with the agency's response to a records request, the party has one year to sue. This ruling, Rental Hous. Ass'n of Puget Sound v. City of Des Moines, clarified when a response to a records request is sufficient to trigger one-year limit.
