Love this podcast! It actually keeps my attention. Being a young adult who is not educated in government or policy, it presents the information in a way I can understand and enjoy.

I think Gregg asked "What's the definition of government? Why was it created?"
Check out the Declaration of Indenpendence:
"all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights...That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men"
And the Washington Constitution:
Art. I, S. 1 POLITICAL POWER. "All political power is inherent in the people, and governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, and are established to protect and maintain individual rights."

kudos to mike for a far better answer than that girl could muster. i've always had a problem with the concept of "unalienable rights" though - i believe that man is inherently evil and is not entitled to anything, but anything he has is a gift from God: a gift, not a right. don't get me wrong, i believe in the necessity of government, but if you build a system on a faulty statement, that system is sure to have faults. why then, with a system built on the concept of rights--something entitled to us--are we taken aback when the upcoming generations collapse into living like rockstars with no sense of work and responsibility to maintain the nation? just thoughts...
