Special session to begin Monday

Posted by Scott "The Piper" St. Clair - March 11, 2010

The Washington State Legislature has adjourned its 2010 regular session without coming up with a budget or a way to pay for it.

Gov. Christine Gregoire has just announced that a special session will be called starting at noon this coming Monday to take care of unfinished business. It is hoped that the session won't last longer than one week, but since the governor is calling the session, there is no limit on what might be taken up by legislators.

"No man's life, liberty or property are safe while the legislature is in session." Gideon J. Tucker, 1866.

They have perpetrated some significant mischief thus far, and that is saying it very kindly. I dread what they will come up with next week... income tax, gum tax, O2-intake tax, right-hand-turn tax, etc.
This is not the country of my birth, I want my country back..

Given the “hidden killers” that are State budgets across the country ... and the fact that the delaying-tactic called the government “stimulus” program (read State-slush-funds) has now begun to run out ... the true collapse of corrupt and incompetent governments will now begin.

These sorts of sessions and tactics must be used to foist all manner of recession-prolonging, job-killing taxes and fees upon the people, to feed the terribly over-committed State budgets for yet another day. A major correction is being prevented by these tactics and must happen through the voices and votes of the governed. We must vote out the incumbents and free-spenders and vote in a new breed of leader who will cut-to-the-bone, State operations, and return cash flow to the private sector and the free-market, where products and services and most importantly ... jobs ... can be created, to sustain our individual needs and lifestyles.

States produce nothing but a drain on the economy ... we must minimize their footprint and return to the founder’s vision of limited government and a populace that can fend more for itself, having realized that the promise of the State caring and feeding you, weakens a nation ... diminishes individual will and capability ... punishes ambition and hard-work ... and has been a lie all along, designed to ruin us.

So, the Gov didn't limit the agenda to the budget only. Time to keep eyes peeled (again). To Kevin's comment, isn't it interesting that Wall St. is more concerned about the ripple effects of the disaster known as the State of California than it is about Greece. Speaks to the larger question of the other 49 states getting their rear-ends in gear.
