Joe Biden's gaffe de jour - this is what passes for leadership?
Posted by Scott "The Piper" St. Clair - July 16, 2009In remarks before an American Association of Retired Persons town hall meeting, Vice President Joe Biden, commenting on the ObamaCare national health plan and what will happen if it doesn't pass, said, "“We’re going to go bankrupt as a nation...Well, people when I say that look at me and say, ‘What are you talking about? You’re telling me we have to go spend money to keep from going bankrupt?’” Biden said. “The answer is yes, I’m telling you.”
Uhm...we have to spend money to keep from going bankrupt??? Escuze me pleeze, but don't you go bankrupt by spending money - more money than you have?
Hot on the heels of his remarks came testimony by Congressional Budget Office Director Douglas Elmendorf before the Senate Finance Committee that the Administration's health care proposal will not result in "bringing down long-term costs because the growth in Medicare and Medicaid spending threatens to swamp the federal budget in coming years," which is a goal of the proposal and one touted by the likes of VP Biden.
Instead, Elmendorf said, “In the legislation that has been reported, we do not see the sort of fundamental changes that would be necessary to reduce the trajectory of federal health spending by a significant amount and, on the contrary, the legislation significantly expands the federal responsibility for health care costs,” (emphasis added).

People ought to ask themselves why Biden was one of the most unpopular of the presidential candidates. The guy is a dunce.
Other than that, he toes the liberal mantra that you have to keep on spouting fear and catastrophe in order to control the masses. This idiot is good at that.
